Chapter VP James McLanahan visited Babé Farms in Santa Maria on Saturday. A donor for our MOH Luncheon, Jeff Lundberg, President and CEO of Babé Farms, gave a tour to 11 members of the Mojave Afghan community. James expressed appreciation for the farm's support of the chapter, presenting Jeff with a Chapter 78 challenge coin. Thanks so much to Babé Farms for their support! @babe_farms #supportafghanrefugees #familyfarm #cagrown
56 years ago FOB 4 was attacked. Included in those lost on that day were 15 GB's. Chapter member Steve Bric's brother PFC William Bric was one of the 16. This url will take you to the story about that day. https://www.specialforces78.com/16-sf-kias-august-23-1968-nva-through-the-wire-fob-4-ccn-2/
From last Saturday's chapter meeting—as he shared this with the group, Dick Thompson almost looks like he's contemplating that moment in 1968...

There was a packed room for Chapter 78's meeting on August 17, which was fantastic. 1) Henry L. (Dick) Thompson, Ph.D., President and CEO of High Performing Systems Inc. He is the author of many books, including his two newest publications, "SOG Codename Dynamite" books 1 and 2. His presentation covered his career with MACV-SOG, into which he wove ARSENAL best practices and other tools for maintaining effectiveness under negative stress. Dick just recently joined our chapter, so his visit was an opportunity to meet chapter members. 2) We enjoyed a visit from former chapter president John Stryker Meyer, AKA Tilt, shown signing a stack of his books. 3) Dr. Bob Reed gave us an update on the progress of the planned memorial for MG John (Jack) Singlaub. The news was very positive, with a city lot (in Singlaub's birthplace, Independence, CA) having been donated and funding help coming from SOA. Purchase signed copies of Dick Thompson's books at http://www.hpsys.com/SOGCD.html. @hps_ceo @jstrykermeyer #inyocounty #soa
At our July chapter meeting, celebrating SF Original Richard Simonian's 92nd birthday. The group shared a beautiful and equally delicious cake supplied by Arin Brandenburg (@sweetbabyas_cakes).
Getting ready for tomorrow's meeting and was reminded by VP James McLanahan about June's guest speaker, Horse Soldier MSG (Ret.) Chris Spence. He told the story of that first deployment to Afghanistan in response to the 9/11 attack. Chris was a member of a small elite SF team now known as the “horse soldiers.”His amazing PowerPoint presentation included the iconic photos (including this month’s cover photo) he took of the members on their horses on patrol. Loved hearing the story behind the taking of those photos. Later Chris joined the chapter and Unit Solutions for a field trip to Artemis Defense Institute. Chris Spence, James McLanahan and “The Colonel” Jim Duffy make it look like I missed some fun! Thank you to Chris for coming out. And thank you Artemis and Unit Solutions! @christopher.spence.92 @artemisdefenseinstitute @unit.solutions
